Gold Price Forecast: XAU/USD Bulls Face Resistance Below $4,600

Gold (XAU/USD) continues to show a moderate bullish trend, extending its recovery from last week’s lows near $4,100. However, resistance around the $4,600 mark is currently capping gains and limiting upside momentum.

A slight risk-on sentiment is putting pressure on the US Dollar, while recent reports regarding potential geopolitical developments in the Middle East have also influenced market sentiment.

Gold Gains Support Amid US Yield Pullback

The precious metal has benefited from a pullback in US Treasury yields after comments from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. Powell indicated that the central bank is not planning immediate rate hikes, stating that inflationary pressures remain “well anchored” despite higher energy costs.

This dovish Fed stance has reduced the appeal of the US Dollar, providing some relief to gold bulls and helping the metal maintain its near-term upward momentum.

Geopolitical Factors Influence the Market

According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, former US President Donald Trump has indicated that he may pursue a resolution to the ongoing Middle East conflict, even if strategic areas like the Strait of Hormuz remain closed.

This news has eased risk sentiment, boosting European equities and leaving the US Dollar index (DXY) stalled below key resistance levels. Traders are closely watching these developments for potential impacts on XAU/USD.

Technical Analysis: Possible Upside to $5,000

Trading

XAU/USD is currently trading at $4,556.93, showing steady but controlled bullish momentum. Technical indicators, including the RSI on 4-hour charts and the MACD, suggest that buyers are maintaining control, though upside momentum has slightly cooled from previous peaks.

Key technical levels to watch:

  • Resistance: $4,600 (38.2% Fibonacci retracement), $4,735 (March 20 high)
  • Support: $4,355 (March 26 low), $4,100 (year-to-date low)
  • Potential Target: $5,040 (C-D leg of Gartley pattern, previous support-turned-resistance)

A bearish break below $4,355 could reopen the path toward the year-to-date low, while successful breach above $4,600 may trigger a stronger rally toward $5,000.

Gold Investment Insights

Why Invest in Gold?
Gold has historically served as a safe-haven asset, protecting wealth during turbulent times. Beyond its use in jewelry, gold is widely recognized as a hedge against inflation and currency depreciation.

Who Holds the Most Gold?
Central banks are the primary holders of gold, using it to diversify reserves and strengthen currencies. In 2022, central banks added 1,136 tonnes (worth ~$70 billion), marking the largest yearly purchase on record, with emerging economies like China, India, and Turkey increasing reserves rapidly.

Correlation with Other Assets
Gold tends to move inversely to the US Dollar and US Treasuries. A weaker Dollar generally boosts gold prices, while a stronger Dollar can constrain them. Gold also reacts inversely to risk assets, rising during stock market sell-offs and moderating during rallies.

Factors Influencing Gold Prices
Gold price fluctuations are influenced by geopolitical instability, recession fears, interest rates, and US Dollar performance. Lower rates or a weaker Dollar often support higher gold prices, while higher rates and a stronger Dollar can cap gains.

Outlook

In the near term, gold bulls face resistance around $4,600, but supportive macro factors like a dovish Fed and geopolitical tensions may maintain upward momentum. Traders should monitor US Dollar movements, Treasury yields, and global risk sentiment to gauge potential price shifts for XAU/USD.

Introduction

In today’s fast-paced markets, traders understand the importance of selecting the right trading style, as choosing incorrectly can lead to losses of hard-earned capital. It is essential to align your trading style with your financial goals, risk tolerance, and available time.

Are you an intraday trader looking to maximize profits within a short time frame? In this blog, we will explore a unique trading style called “scalping trading”, which is designed to generate quick profits and is particularly suited for traders actively engaged in day trading.

Who are Scalpers?

Scalpers are traders who execute multiple trades daily, often in quick succession. Each scalper follows a strict exit strategy to prevent a single large loss from wiping out the small, incremental profits they accumulate.

Successful scalping requires discipline, focus, and determination. Having the right tools and strategies can significantly enhance a trader’s ability to succeed in this fast-paced style. Additionally, experience plays a crucial role, as it enables scalpers to effectively apply technical trading concepts and techniques, maximizing their potential profits in the market.

What is Scalp Trading?

Scalp trading, or scalping, is a high-speed trading strategy in which traders aim to profit from small price movements by executing multiple trades throughout the day. Positions are typically held for just a few seconds to several minutes, with the objective of accumulating small gains that compound over time. This strategy demands quick decision-making, strong technical analysis skills, and a reliable trading platform to execute trades efficiently.

Scalping Characteristics

Scalping is a trading strategy characterized by rapid, frequent trades designed to profit from small price fluctuations. It typically involves high trading volume, minimal profit per trade, and very short holding periods—often lasting just seconds or minutes. Scalpers rely heavily on technical analysis, fast trade execution, and strict discipline to manage risk and prevent significant losses.

How Scalping Trading Works?

Now that you understand who scalpers are, you might be wondering how the scalping trading strategy actually works.

In simple terms, scalping is a short-term trading approach in which traders buy and sell assets one or multiple times within a single day to profit from small, rapid price movements. Scalpers typically focus on highly liquid assets, as consistent price fluctuations throughout the day are essential for executing this strategy effectively.

High liquidity also ensures that traders receive the best available prices when entering and exiting positions. Scalpers prefer making small trades because they carry lower risk in volatile markets and allow traders to secure incremental profits before opportunities disappear. Essentially, generating multiple small gains within a short timeframe is often more effective than waiting for a single large profit.

Here are the three primary principles that scalpers rely on:

1. Decreased exposure limits risks-

I can also rephrase it in a more trading-focused way if you want it to fit better in a scalping or risk management context. Do you want me to do that?

2. Small moves are much more effortless to attain

A stock’s price is entirely driven by the interaction between demand and supply in the market. To generate consistent profits, scalpers focus on capturing small price movements that occur frequently, as these minor fluctuations are easier to exploit and accumulate over time.

3. Making significant profits from catching smaller ones

Even when the overall market is underperforming, scalpers actively seek small opportunities that can cumulatively lead to significant profits.

Scalpers primarily rely on technical trading techniques, such as demand-supply analysis, risk management, and chart patterns, more than other trading styles. Technical analysis involves studying historical price movements to identify trends and predict future price action. Scalpers use these tools to spot patterns and make quick trading decisions.

Additionally, scalpers often work with multiple timeframes but focus on the shortest ones—often five minutes or less. By using these short-term charts, they can execute anywhere from 10 to 100 trades in a single day, taking advantage of rapid price fluctuations for consistent gains.

Benefits of Scalp Trading

Scalping trading is very popular among traders who are involved in day trading, here are some of the advantages of scalp trading:-

Benefits of Scalping Trading

1. Quick Profits

One of the main advantages of scalping is the ability to earn quick profits. This strategy focuses on making small gains across a large number of trades, allowing traders to accumulate substantial profits within a short period.

2. High-Frequency Trading

Scalpers execute multiple trades in a short time, taking advantage of short-term price movements and market volatility. This high-frequency approach increases opportunities to profit from rapid price fluctuations.

3. Small Capital Requirement

Scalping does not require large amounts of capital. Traders can take small positions and still benefit from numerous profitable trades, making this strategy suitable for those with limited capital.

4. Low Risk

Since trades are held for a very short period—often just a few minutes—scalping is considered a low-risk strategy. Traders can quickly exit positions if the market moves against them, and using stop-loss orders helps limit potential losses even further.

5. Constant Action

Scalping keeps traders actively engaged in the market. The fast-paced nature of this strategy keeps traders alert, responsive, and ready to capitalize on rapid market movements.

Scalping Strategies

Scalping strategies are particularly effective when based on demand and supply zones. Traders often use a top-down approach, starting with higher timeframes (like daily or hourly charts) to identify key support (demand) and resistance (supply) zones. They then zoom into smaller timeframes, such as 3–5 minutes, to determine precise entry and exit points. This method allows scalpers to capture quick price reactions at critical levels with greater accuracy.

Example of Scalping

For instance, a trader identifies a demand zone around ₹950 on a 1-hour chart. They then switch to a 3-minute chart to monitor price behavior near this zone. If the price forms a bullish pattern or a rejection wick at ₹950, the trader enters a buy trade. The stop-loss is placed just below the demand zone (e.g., ₹948), and the target is set near a nearby supply zone or based on a small risk-to-reward ratio, such as 1:1.5. This allows the trader to secure a quick profit within minutes.

Conclusion

For day traders, learning scalping can be highly beneficial. This strategy can be used as a primary trading approach or as a supplement to other trading styles. The key to success lies in strict exit strategies, consistent monitoring of trades, and leveraging the frequency of small price moves to compound profits into significant gains. Scalping’s combination of speed, precision, and low-risk exposure is why it remains a popular choice among active traders.
